It's quite hard to be autistic in a neurotypical world. I've been experiencing autistic burnout like never before at the moment, but something that's helped is seeing other Autistics, AuDHDer's, and ADHDer's talk about their experiences on here. (Having a brilliant supervisor helps too).

Huge thankyou to CILIP Disability Network for awarding NLISN this Accessibility Award, which has now safely arrived in the post! We won as an organisation so although Jo and Andy are named, this award is for all of us. The committee, the network and all our allies. #cilip #libraries #accessibility
27.10.2025 08:33 β π 9 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0And that sums up the first NLISN AGM! I may be biased, but @jofitz.bsky.social and @playbrarian.uk are brilliant humans. Thank you to all the members of the committee, and the network, who are helping us neurodivergent folks know we're not alone in this big old library world! @nlisn.bsky.social
19.09.2025 12:37 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I had a *big* organisation refuse to give me them a couple of times... It was a shock! I didn't want to self-disclose so we compromised with giving "themes" of the interview. They tried, I guess?

Iβve been on a streak of brilliant reads lately (Her Majestyβs Royal Coven, Butter, and Yellowface). Just finished Chris Whitakerβs All the Colours of the Dark and Iβm obsessed. As in, I read it in 5 hours and nearly cried, obsessed. Anyone else? #Allthecoloursofthedark

Because real inclusion means acknowledging the full experience, not just the parts that fit neatly into workplace expectations. Letβs keep building spaces where people feel like they truly belong. (5/5)

Itβs something Iβve spoken about in my recent talks; how celebrating neurodiversity isnβt just recognising strengths, but also openly addressing the challenges that come with being neurodivergent. (4/5)
29.05.2025 10:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0but now I see that openly embracing my neurodiversity is part of creating that sense of belonging. Talking about it, celebrating it, normalising it, itβs all part of making workplaces better for everyone. (3/5)
29.05.2025 10:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For most of my life, I kept my neurodiversity quiet, especially when it came to interviews. Not because I was ashamed, but because it seemed easier not having to explain and not having to worry about how people might react. (2/5)
