Sorry, I was in a cab.
I think the firefighters were at the part of the building where the courtyard area is located. It did not seem like an active situation when I went by. I did not see smoke.
They generally leave ventilation fans behind for a day or so if there was any smoke.

My readings are less accurate although similar. I woke at 1:26 am to the sound of rain. This morning there was almost an inch of rainwater in my watering can, on the deck, and the air is lovely and fresh for the 1st time in weeks.

The Long Lake wildfire remains out of control, and the wind direction has shifted, so people in other parts of Nova Scotia will smell the smoke. Please keep that in mind if you suspect a fire in your community. If you notice visible flames, a column of smoke with a defined source, black/brown smoke, or any other indication of an active fire, call 911 or the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-565-2224.

A modern voodoo doll, full of knitting needles
A friend told me he had been clearing out his granβs house. The most amazing thing heβd found was this knitted effigy of the man who had run off and abandoned my friendβs pregnant aunt. Into the effigy had been stuck twenty knitting needles: one for every year since the man had vanished.
