Of course it's merely a myth used to justify it as a bad omen.

I do imagine that is the same is would have been in real life. Dromaeosaurs have some of the largest brains, they might well have been as smarts as corvids. So I could absolutely see one be trained as a domesticated mount.
One of my worlds has raptors as mounts too, thought mostly used for war.
That looks so good! And I always adore dinosaurs, so this is even more incredible! โฅ๏ธ
02.11.2025 01:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I written some scenes in what is essentially a fanfic for the characters of one my friends recently - and it has some of the best character dynamics I have ever written.
And I feel it is genuinely improving my entire approach to writing character relationships.
That is awesome! I am always a fan of magic gemstones, and dragons. So those things goes well together.
02.11.2025 01:19 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In Ryleth there is 'Caiphos' or the 'Fable Star', a single blood-red star sometimes appearing in the night sky, and is their world's worst omen of ill and evil.
The myth goes that if it rises over a specific place, everyone below its scarlet light will go insane and slaughter everyone around them.
Ohhh! That is sooo cool. Love the cards!

But it was alive, and beautiful.
Needles is going to be harder, I've added half a textbook worth of real life medical terms to make it work ๐
28.10.2025 03:29 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I absolutely want the world and cultures to be realistically grounded.
For the fantastic parts I really love soft magic that feels mystical. But many of my favourites stories have hard scientific magic.
Of my books, Needles is more towards the harder side, while I'd say Dreams is about half/half.
Aww they look so cute!

21.10.2025 21:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0While worldbuilding is my favourite topic, I think that I would be much better at teaching story structure.
Including things like - pacing, setup vs payoff, foreshadowing, tension building, and character-setting-plot interweaving.
I know nothing about wrestling either, but good luck!

18.10.2025 00:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0When he returned he had gotten a new villainous role, so he systematically slaughtered every citizen of the city and burned it to the ground - sparing only the young woman, whom he mentally broke and took with him as a slave.

Fay are really strange in my world. Their personalities completely shifts depending on which 'role they play'.
There was one fay who saved a young woman's life, then became her gallant hero and lover, and protected her city for years. Then one night he left, and was gone for six months...

It was kind of fun - one of the specific traits I designed Kealin with was not holding grudges.
And then one of the first stories I write with her is her horrifically taking revenge on someone who buried her alive to die.
The inspiration for "Needles of Life" was that I had re-read Brandon Sanderson's "The Emperor's Soul" and while it was a phenomenal book I was disappointed that we didn't get to enough of how the magical healing actually worked - so I wanted to make a story showing off my magical healing.

I made a really elaborate zodiac for my world, but have not yet developed it in any detail beyond the names. It's also not literally a zodiac, as most of the signs are not animals, but I just use the terms so people knows what I mean ^^
Ah, that is cool. I do like the whole birthday association with zodiac, stone, material etc.

I mean you can always test it out with us when we swap stories, to see if it works - if that appeals to you ^^
I too like seeing the girl bound ๐
But from this Vrakya seems at least relatively chill.
I am still a fan of the idea of mixing in some of Jact's pov scenes, it sounds like it would add a lot to the story.
Terrible - Cayan is given an order by a warlord and refuses to follow it out of spite. And then when other people gets inspired by his example and does similar reckless things, he curses himself for an idiot and wishes he had just obeyed the damn order.
