These levels are connected, but the connection feels weak without a hub.
The levels are big, but the bragging about how huge it is makes them feel like too much instead of letting you figure that out on your own.

Small decisions with big impact!

Genuinely that small choice, plus the lack of a "hub world" concept makes Voodoo Vince significantly worse in experience than something like Jak and Daxter even though the actual level designs can match up with Jak any day. It's interesting how strong an effect context has.

I think part of it is because the game *really* wants to show off the power of the Xbox to render these gigantic levels and swoop through them with a buttery smooth framerate, but they're *so* big that it just makes me think "nah I'm good for tonight thanks" and shut it off.

The more I play Voodoo Vince, the more I like it, but I also can't sit with it for more than an hour at a time before wanting to do something else. It's a very strange game where it feels amazing in bursts with immaculate vibes, visuals, and cool level design, but I also want to stop.

Got literally the same run twice in a row in Nightreign. Everything in exactly the same spot, same bosses, same stonesword key drops (mostly lack thereof). Trippy.
