This is absolutely correct and a much bigger issue than it is being treated as. At what point do people decide it isn't prudent to assume a menacing masked marauder is "legitimate", whatever that means? What do people do to protect themselves and their families? Some of the answers are not good.

It's kind of a surreal feeling as I sip coffee on the deck as my dogs meander about the yard. This will be the last morning we do this in preparation for me to begin my workday. When the day ends, I will be retired. The coffee tastes especially good this morning.
