There is absolutely confirmation bias on my endβthe game is probably my favorite story ever toldβbut it goes so far beyond superficial changes in character appearance and line delivery. Practically everything about the central narrative is weaker in this adaptation, and GOOD moments suffer for it!

I hesitate to call it "butchering" since they still managed to tell a passable story, but holy shit is the second season of HBO's TLOU a disappointment. It's clearly trying to be its own version of this story, but it's kinda just an objectively lesser version of that story. Hate to see it

It's been a bit grueling at times dedicating hundreds of hours to a fan wiki, but I wouldn't be talking about it here if I wasn't proud of it. This has all been fueled by genuine passion for the world of Drehmal, and I hope this can act as a valuable resource for as many people as possible.

A screenshot of the player stats on my main Wiki World as of 3/5/2025. Most notably, it shows Time Played at 5.38 days (~129 hours), and Time with World Open at 24.73 days (~593 hours).
I had at least a half-dozen Wiki WorldsβDrehmal copies I could use to reference anything I was writing about, and kept open while writing in VScode. Across all of them, I had nearly 800 hours of world-open time (played+writing combined), including almost 600 on the main one!

The assets folder of the wiki is about 1.3 GB, with 933 files. About 390 of those are screenshots taken in-game, amounting to around 950 MB, with the gifs taking up another significant chunk.

Now, here's some stats I spent way too long throwing together about the wiki!
There are about 970 pages on the wiki, with a total word count (possibly unreliable) somewhere between 440-490k. About 100,000 of those words are just transcribed text from the map alone!

Detailed accounts of the boss battles and the last half of the lore pages were the final updates, in late February and early March. I declared the wiki officially complete on March 6th, 208 days into the project.

The next move was mostly fleshing out the Lore section, which we had saved for last. Some of my favorite parts of this include small stuff like analyzing the pattern of the moons in the custom skybox, up to pulling together tons of wiki sources for some of the biggest events.

The points of interest were up next, as I wrote up pages for all of Drehmal's biggest dungeons, ruins, and landmarks. Some of these, like the Foundry, necessitated much more specific presentation styles, sometimes requiring a LOT of playtesting and datamining.

I took a break from it in late December, and came back in mid-January to update the miscellaneous pages. There are some great deep cuts in here, including pages on the OST, all custom death messages/splashtexts, speedrunning, and records/downloads of the older map versions!

The pages on Drehmal's towns were my big challenge in December, particularly the information on all the custom merchants. They're usually invulnerable, but it is possible to get them killed or turned into witches. The solution? Adding 134 individual commands to respawn them on the wiki!

One of my favorite pages came to fruition in November - the Runic Catalyst page! This page, made with a ton of help from two others, contains the Runic Cat-a-List, a colossal table that describes the location of all 376 of these little magical MacGuffins.

Due to the knowledge I accumulated, I also contributed a lot to the help channels in the Discord during this project. That made me realize the worth of extensive FAQ and Help pages, which now cover a TON of helpful information, and integrate the wiki more with other parts of the community!

A first-person gif of me using Drehmal's "Flammer" legendary tool, demonstrating its ability. The tool, a modified pickaxe, is used to destroy various patches of orange concrete and other blocks, showcasing its mechanic of 3x3 destruction, as well as showing scenarios where it does not work (when used on non-pickaxe blocks such as gravel or wood).
A third-person gif demonstrating the ability of Drehmal's "Osteogenesis" weapon. The player (below the camera) performs three jump crits in succession while surrounded by Wither Skeletons. The third hit creates multiple rings of red particles around the player, instantly killing several enemies.
Next came all of Drehmal's awesome custom items, in early October! The lists of every Artifact and Artisan Item are great resources, but one of my favorite features on the wiki has to be the gifs I made showcasing each Legendary/Mythical's unique ability. Here's Flammer and Osteogenesis:

A screenshot of the Google Doc containing the Drehmal devs' official name pronunciations. A bulleted list containing several names of Minor Aspects and their pronunciations is visible on-screen.
Fun fact about any pronunciations you see: we gave co-creators Keeko and Rift what amounted to a 10-page worksheet in September, asking for pronunciation guides for basically every original name in the map. The result is what you see on the wiki! They're canon, even if I hate some!

The region pages (mostly written by the other Wiki Curator, Phyxonerceus) were intended as our guide to open-world exploration. They've all got example terrain screenshots, history sections, geographical breakdowns, and a full list of notable points of interest!

Next was the story locations in September. Obviously, many people use wikis specifically for help on puzzles, and most of Drehmal's puzzles are here. These were written to give both light guidance and full walkthroughs depending on what you want, as well as plot/lore summary.
