every time I see a man with his pants hanging down to expose his underwear (like the actual color, not the waistband) I’m going to assume he just doesn’t have enough of an ass to keep them up

and honestly I’m right

I’ve officially started editing the second novel I drafted and guys I’m biased but also it’s kinda great

like why am I so excited over my characters meeting for the first time?? I literally wrote the book

…so I finished it yesterday

so what if I finished my current wip within the month?

what then?

ah the joy of putting your current wip into a plotting document and realizing it does in fact fit very nicely and you didn’t accidentally pace it horribly

just so everyone knows, there is no serotonin boost like overwhelmingly positive beta reader feedback

as of a week ago, my second novel has been entirely drafted

it went much faster than I thought and is a little short, but draft one is done

book 1 draft 2 is officially in the hands of my alpha readers

this isn’t extremely terrifying (and also so exciting) or anything

I’m at a gym (in a different state) and have officially outstayed every single man that came in when I was here

it’s been like an hour but still

being an author on Valentine’s Day is spending the day writing characters having their meet cute and getting some kisses while I myself get reminded paragraph by paragraph how single I am

I am, notably, in Philly

My neighbors are watching the superbowl so loudly my entire wall is vibrating

I can hear it and also feel it in my brain. It’s literally shaking my spice rack

I can hear every word coming out of his TV very clearly

writing dual pov is so fun because you get one character’s view talking about the things they like about the other character followed by the other character thinking they’ve immeasurably screwed up by doing something socially awkward and of course actually doing the thing the one character liked

being a writer is so ridiculous— what do you mean I’ve been too scared to write a chapter for the last few days bc I want it to be perfect

it was my idea. I outlined it. I’m the only one who’s going to read the draft

who is it supposed to be perfect for???

I put it on hold at my library and am picking it up today. I’m vaguely terrified but I feel like I have to read it

Please note that the muse was so in charge that I spilled water on my laptop, panicked, dried it as best I could, and then continued to write on my phone

I wish I was kidding. It feels like sacrilege. My laptop is my life and I need them to be okay

sometimes you get to do what you want and sometimes your muse takes the reigns and decides you’re going to write until it’s satisfied (5k words) and not read a single page all day

I have to be up at five am tomorrow I’m going to sleep now

Would it be at a family gathering? Also nope.

It’s not fancy or traditional

But it’s easy and I like it and I bought the za’atar at a middle eastern market and it’s middle eastern food to me all the same

One of the nice things about being an adult is that you can just incorporate your culture into your life without fanfare

I made za’atar chicken for dinner. Just za’atar, olive oil and garlic on chicken and into the oven. Would it be in a middle eastern restaurant? Probably not
