Kettles are great for reheating leftovers.

I prefere "show and tell" to "show, don't tell" if anything. The former actually provides some guidance while tha latter provides years of wasted words. (I have opinions, and they're ornery.)

Really, check out writingexcuses.com. I think those folks are on the nose when it comes to understanding this stuff. Authors, agents and editors have great discussions on all sorts of subjects and have done so for years. (I'll hunt down some of the various folks and stick them in the thread.)

The fellow insisted that any sufficiently descriptive passage was showing while I insisted that showing required.

It's a profound disagreement about something that's pretty trivial, all things considered.

I just (as in over the past day) had an odd argument of what constitutes /tell/ vs /show/ in the oft repeated /Show, Don't Tell/ advice (which I profoundly dislike).

The difference between business for business' sake and business for passion's sake.

I've got dozens upon dozens of half-baked shorts and several quarter-baked novel(ish) works. Got three that I've got a beed on. One's rather personal. The other two are __Norbert__ and __Kilby Blades Ate my Face__.
