This amazingly high quality music festival is just up the road from me. Well worth a visit for the astonishingly beautiful venue alone let alone the fantastic music. And if you come on the right day you'll find me manning the bar π

It's called the stacco, developed by my friend Nicola Privato at the Intelligent Instruments Lab. It controls a set of RAVE models we trained on BBC radio recordings made by the Philharmonic. It's very performable which I like while still keeping the fun and volatility of machine learning

Zubin will be performing on piano, synths, and new intelligent instruments which navigate orchestral archives. We are really excited to bring this to your eardrums in July (Manchester conducted by Jack Sheen) and 2026 (Berlin), and on BBC Radio 3!

tho the relationship with Western Classical is often blurred on commercial releases as they are usually supported by universities, but nonetheless it's definitely much less Western-focussed than, say, Messiaen

Hi Emily - are you familiar with the taonga puoro tradition from Aotearoa New Zealand - guessing you are? quite a deep relationship with birdsong; I also have an album somewhere at home which explores this exact thing and will dig it out. I think it was maybe on the Rattle label, but can't be sure
