There are still people making lots of games (more than ever) and posting them to itch for example, with and without ai, but the specific phase of culture has passed and can’t come back I think, because of how games are played and discovered, what games media exists, who makes money making them etc.

It's not just the games themselves that need preserving, but the period of time where it was possible to make a release little web games, which people readily played and shared, using widely accessible tools. It's not impossible today but the moment itself has passed, and it's cool to remember it.

Every creative medium has a slightly different history, cadence, community texture to it, and each one needs a different approach to preserving its past and retelling it again. I really love the work @touloutoumou.bsky.social does in preserving this extremely important part of games history.

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

My hands really can't type for longer than like 10 minutes by the time the afternoon comes around, but I am enjoying just occasionally making a thing in Magpie for a few minutes and that feels like a good sign.
