You can find anecdotal examples (below), but a problem with data is the grey area in "successful defense". Most trespassers aren't masked burglars...if I shoot someone rummaging through my trash, is that a successful defense? ..if I flash a gun at a drunk kid who broke in and passed out on my couch?
