13.02.2026 21:44 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children has a flashback where the mentor character tells the main protagonist to go home and put on something more practical, and then when a coworker points out she wears a dress and high heels into combat her responds is "I'm good enough to do that."

13.02.2026 18:46 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cenk has become so against the vague concept of the idea of the "The Establishment" he's stopped interfacing with reality entirely.

13.02.2026 18:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I felt like the story depicts Schwarzwald as being Correct in his knowledge but Incredibly, Dangerously Wrong about what to do with it.
Though I'll admit, I have a fondness for the show. And I really like Schwarzwald's theme song, Stoning.
Oh I agree, I'm talking about something that happened way back when during The Great Leap Forward.
It didn't end well. In no small part because making your laborers try and fail to produce steel means... they're not Farming. And famines are very bad.
You can't just artificially set supply and demand! It doesn't end well! You end up with the CCP trying to force farmers to produce steel now which they obviously can't do because they don't know how and they end up making nothing but pig iron.
13.02.2026 18:14 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A lot of self-designated communists don't seem to actually know how Communism works, they just imagine it's "guillotine the billionaires and then Food and Medicine are Free Forever" which... look, I would love Food and Medicine to be Free Forever, most people would, but the systems are tricky!
13.02.2026 18:14 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0If my (admittedly basic) understanding is right, I'm pretty sure making a Command Economy is Very Hard when your Very Big Country is sliced into 50 different states with slightly different rules.
13.02.2026 17:58 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0I wouldn't claim to be a master of political tactics but "Trans people will only have rights when everyone is the same type of Communist I am" seems like a bad strategy for getting trans people rights. Especially in the US, which is emphatically not structured in a way that's amenable to Communism!
13.02.2026 17:58 β π 10 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0"How dare a cis man yell at me for calling his trans girlfriend stupid and without dignity?" sure is... it sure is Something.
13.02.2026 17:45 β π 18 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've said it before and I'll say it again, it feels like a nonzero number of folks in the queer community took "to be queer is to be radical" to be an aspirational statement rather a descriptive one. But an identity should not be radical! To simply exist should not be radical!

Do these people even understand what they sound like when they do stuff like that? I'm sorry you've had such an experience, it must be awful.
I'm glad he was able to overcome his alcoholism. Presumably he became a very stable individual after that, making no questionable decisions at all.
...oh, who am I kidding? It's Marvel.
I think Mojo could be a good MCU villain, but perhaps they don't use him for fear of it coming across as Biting The Hand That Feeds.
(I did have a totally crackpot theory that he's going to be the ultimate villain in the Spider-Verse trilogy)
Though I do know who Mojo is, and think he's terrific, so maybe my knowledge of comics is sort of Eclectic.
13.02.2026 17:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Booze? (I'm not as familiar with Marvel comics as I am with DC comics, but I know Tony Stark famously has a history of Substance Use)
13.02.2026 17:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Random and probably silly question, but does anyone do "he could do so much more good if he gave his money away" discourse with Iron Man? I feel like Iron Man's expenditures are higher than Batman's by several magnitudes, what with All The Robot Suits. Batman's mostly bulk purchasing batarangs.

13.02.2026 17:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I read a book from before the Trump years called "It's Even Worse Than It Looks" that pretty much blamed all our modern political dysfunction on the Republican party and specifically marked Newt Gingrich as a huge contributor to the party's current awful state.
