My wife @munchkinmom.bsky.social and I were discussing how worship and justice should go hand-in-hand. So my thanks today to @zachwlambert.bsky.social in his Substack post for reminding me of Amos 5:21-24 and Isaiah 1:13-17. Corporate worship should include calls for justice for the oppressed.

How W. E. B. Du Bois responded to government policing of "anti-American" sentiment during the 1910s:

"I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, 'We are seeking to have the Constitution of the United States thoroughly and completely enforced.' ”

The Oxford Annotated Bible has a lot of study notes and maps. I know it is recommended in the Introductory Bible/OT/NT classes in college.
