Ack. Just... Bleh bleh bleh.

If my nieces ever ask nonna if she wants to be shallowly recreated for corporate profit with no actual control over her own likeness, the ensuing stare might be colder than the farthest reaches of space. Fuckssaaykes.

But truly.

A graphic from The Korea Herald illustrates a Korean study on COVID-19 and memory. On the left, a diagram shows the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein entering the brain and disrupting nerve cell connections. A cartoon mouse appears confused, with a scribble above its head, representing cognitive decline. On the right, another mouse looks calm and healthy, symbolizing recovery. Below, two panels compare the mechanisms: the left shows damaged synapses and the buildup of toxic proteins, while the right shows treatment icons β€” including a medical cross and reduced toxic protein markers β€” representing improvement after metformin. The headline reads: β€œKorean study finds how COVID-19 affects memory, suggests a possible treatment.”

Korean study finds how COVID-19 affects memory, suggests a possible treatment.

Korean researchers found the COVID S1 spike protein disrupts nerve cells, harming memory and causing anxiety in mice. Metformin restored nerve function and reduced toxic proteins, suggesting a possible treatment.

Santa Claus isn’t the only one who knows when you are sleeping, knows when you’re awake, and knows if you’ve been bad or good.

That’s because large data brokers are able to buy and sell sensitive data without your consent.

Let’s do something about it.

I know
most people do not care
about viral threats
to humans or animals,
but in Greece a virus has killed
nearly 500,000
sheep and goats
imperiling the supply
of feta cheese,
so even if people do not care
about humans or animals
perhaps they’ll care
about viral threats to cheese.

The Tenth Window. The Elderly Squirrel let himself into his cottage, lit a very necessary fire, made a pot of coffee, and then collapsed into an armchair. He had been at St Thomas's Church Hall all morning and it had been very exciting and not a little tiring.
Miss Stevenson and the Vicar had organised a few mornings of talks and activities for the older members of the parish. In the first week in December, there had been a slightly confusing lecture on the "Pagan Symbols of Christmas" by a green-silk swathed theosophist friend of Miss Stevenson's, followed by mince pies and an introduction on folding napkins for the festive table.
Today, everyone had enjoyed a dramatic recitation of sections of "A Christmas Carol" by the Vicar's cousin, who was an enthusiastic amateur player in Dorchester. Afterwards, there was plum crumble with custard and a class in making simple brass decorations for one's tree.
The Elderly Squirrel managed to sit next to Madame Mouse, his port in every storm, and together they made a respectable number of embossed birds, hearts, stars, angels and cockle shells. At the end, their instructor, a friendly otter from Langton Herring suggested that their final cut-out be a likeness of their neighbour in their group, and he was delighted with his effort, which conveyed a little of Madame Mouse's elegance, but even more so with Madame Mouse's portrait, which made him look very bushy-tailed and dashing.
Back home, he gathered together his little pile of creations, and hung them one by one on the tree Old Fox had cut for him the previous day, reserving Madame Mouse's portrait for the front. When he lit the dozen candles nestling in the branches, the shadowy sitting room was suddenly filled with blazes of light, which in turn were reflected by the brass.
My word, said the Elderly Squirrel, sudden tears coming into his eyes, my word, what a display!
And after some final adjustments, he turned on the wireless, poured some cream into his coffee, and sat…

For profit prisons need to be made illegal.
Anyone in Congress investing in, or profiting from, for-profit prisons must be expelled from Congress and all their benefits and pensions cancelled permanently.

Oh, the politicians know. We just need to get rid of the ones who lie about it to the voters, to get & keep power.

Trickle-down economics works just as advertised β€” except what trickles back down isn't wealth, it's facism & poverty.
