Every time I read about the pre-Industrial New York harbor I get so emotional

Why are so many regular New Yorkers distrusting of local government? This bridge’s sidewalk is a great example. It was closed for the better part of a decade, finally reopened last year, and now a few months later it’s completely closed again - all with no signage to even explain why

Nobody talks about how wild it is that the southern border of NYC and northern border of Philly are only like 40 miles apart

Totally, but there’s another 60 miles of Broadways, and most are not very nice for riding

Terrible bike ride ideas I have:

-Broadway Ride: every Broadway variant in the City, they’re almost uniformly terrible to ride on
-Pizza Century: slice every 10 miles
-Brooklyn Historic District Ride: visit every District, so much redundancy
-Manhattan Avenues Ride: generally unpleasant

Life can be so beautiful

There really is just hardly any urban form as singularly unique as Flushing anywhere else in the US

Congestion pricing 1st-week data shows 7.5% fewer vehicles in zone and faster travel, MTA says The MTA said 7.5% fewer vehicles entered the zone below 60th Street during the first week in which drivers had to pay the congestion pricing toll.

It's really incredible!

We’ve known for a long time that the effects of traffic are exponential, but it’s really amazing to watch in real time as a 7.5% reduction in cars from congestion pricing leads not to a little less gridlock, but basically free flowing streets in Manhattan
