Whilst I'm cooking, in my favourite stein, cannot remember where I picked it up from, probably a charity shop, and I've never had any of their beers according to untapped, and looking at Google maps, unlikely to get to the brewery either, in the middle of nowhere in Austria.

15 years ago today I arrived on Downing Street in a cage.
I've seen off Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak and I'm still going strong.
Only two Prime Ministers have ever done longer stints here: William Pitt the Younger and Sir Robert Walpole.
Bill and Bob - I'm coming for you...

Really want to visit their taphouse, hopefully this year.

Whilst in the pub, I'm trying to listen to what I think is one of the best live albums ever, the Velvet Underground 1969.
A later lineup of VU, but great performance in a small texas bar, Lou's gentle banter with the crowd, great version of Ocean, I love it.

+ got a takeout as realised I hadn't put anything in the fridge on my return.

My normal quiet Sunday beer is being disrupted by a bar full of people today, as people getting in early for Wales getting smashed at rugby!

News, nuggets and longreads 14 February 2026: The Crying of Lot 49 Every Saturday we round up the week's best writing about beer. This time, we’ve got alcohol-free beer, Guinness, and AF Guinness. Sigh.

GOOD MORNING! Here's our weekly round up of the best writing about beer and pubs from the past week, with slightly too many mentions of Guinness and alcohol-free beer, once again. 🍻🍺

Finished reading last night Robert Silverberg's 'Shadrach in the furnace', very enjoyable, really liked his writing, more than a lot of the other big names from his period.
