Today STEM students from Martinlaakso High School visited us at the Metsähovi Geodetic Research Station. They learned how essential Geodesy is for satellite positioning and Earth Observing Satellites. During a site tour they were introduced to VLBI, SLR, GNSS and Gravimetry.

Today the Department of Geodesy and Geodynamics visited the Emma Museum of Modern Art in Espoo, Finland. We tried to expand our ways of thinking research and customers using design thinking.
A fun day for all of us and as a bonus we saw tons of interesting art pieces.

Today, we had open house at the Nummela standard baseline of #NLS-FGI. This autumn it was measured for the 17th time using the Väisälä comparator, based on white light interferometry. Still the most accurate distance measurement method in the world, since the 1940s. #geodesy #maanmittaus
