We traveled to California from TX to look at colleges with my son. We laboriously found parking at started to tour a major CA university. Seven minutes in my son said “Nope” and he was DONE.

Said goodbye to my machine today- while maybe still repairable, it’s a long drive to the shop and I was ready to trade it in. This was my ‘new’ machine, as compared to my 1946 and 1956 Singers.

Fresh, fresh little baby okra just steamed, served with coarse salt, is supreme. Serve it with little lady peas, summer tomatoes, and homemade biscuits with Mayhaw jelly and I am in heaven.

4/ My point, I guess, is that it’s possible to lead a very busy and full life while avoiding Covid. It’s also possible to let down your guard just slightly and succumb to it.

If you’ve been super vigilant, know it does help keep you well. I’m trying not to beat myself up too much

3/ This is not the sickest we’ve ever been. We tested mostly because a. We are never sick now that we mask and b. we were going to be with other people. But we’ve still lost a month of productivity and doing things. Plus felt crummy for weeks.

2/ succumbed within 72 hours. We had left for a trip in the meantime, and traveled thousands of miles just to miss the event.

Three weeks on and my husband is still coughing terribly and testing positive. He has Parkinson’s plus some other issues and Covid is Not Great for him.

We avoided COVID for more
than five years. We were careful, we masked, we avoided restaurants and unmasked crowds. We still managed to go to Europe 2x and drive more than 8k miles on US trips.

Our downfall was not walking out of the room at “it’s just allergies”.😬
