Democrats always make decisions out of fear and caution. They’re worried about who will be subtracted, so they never ADD! A decision like this could have built the coalition and motivated another critical part of the base.

If we still see the “neutral” newsman types like @jaketapper.bsky.social @wolfblitzercnn.bsky.social etc maintain their neutrality amidst this war against free speech democracy will really die in darkness.

A friend told me on Friday ICE, along with MPD, was literally stopping every Latino male exiting the Ft Totten station. DC cannot submit to this for 3 and a half more years. He cannot take home rule legally without 60 votes. Appeasement has invited more terror. Time to fight.

What's more? Bowser said MPD would stop cooperating with ICE at the end of the emergency. But 4 days later, they haven't. They have been, as she said, terrorizing the city. All weekend MPS has been out in the city collaborating with ICE. DC won't stand for it.

Here's the thing: it's been 7 months. We cannot avoid the fight with Trump for 4 years. Chicago stood up from the start and he backed down, but bc Bowser has consistently tried to appease Trump, the bully comes for more & more. It's for DC- collectively-to fight back.

The fact that Matthew Dowd lost his job for pointing out Charlie Kirk’s hate speech, while Brian Kilmeade openly suggests we should euthanize the homeless and there is zero outrage, shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.

Let me say this: Countless organizations, advocates & every day Washingtonians are spending 24/7 (really) working to keep residents safe. Then our Mayor goes on TV and undermines all of that and WELCOMES the federal invasion of our city that is terrorizing residents. Betrayal.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Men will make ICE bigger than the FBI, the DEA and the US Bureau of Prisons combined instead of go to therapy

We need a budget that prioritizes affordable housing, deep investments in education like big expansion of community schools, real community safety. Instead, we’re getting austerity from supposed “Democrats”. I’m with @justrecoverydc.bsky.social and @fairbudgetdc.bsky.social. Ready for this fight!

At same time- we’re being asked to swallow the city investing $1B (more like 6 B long term) in capital dollars for a stadium after years of delayed critical capital dollar investments in school and park repairs.

And we know 80-90 % of DC residents favor raising taxes on wealthy and big business. For the mayor to say “no thanks” while residents are suffering is hard to comprehend in a city with our values. Many people are suffering, but this is still a city of tremendous untapped wealth.
