"I was exactly what they wanted to a T, and that's why it felt so right."

Disney decided it's too risky to let children see this young trans women as a human being like themselves. For shame.

Explaining that trans people exist is nothing. Explaining that transphobia exists is painful, ugly, and genuinely troubling to children and adults alike. It poses existential questions of why evil happens in the world and why people choose to do it. Is anyone ever mature enough to truly face that?

folks in hollywood need to understand the political context of why this industry shift to the right is occurring. corporate studios are extensions of the ruling class— they’re manufacturing what is societally acceptable in order to further their interests.

I’ve been reading this anthology of trans fantasy stories and it’s pretty damn good. Y’all should check it out if you’re sick of Disney pulling this shit and want trans stories told by trans authors

If there's one good thing that I can see coming from all this cowardice - from Disney, Walmart, and elsewhere - it's that the lack of trust in any and all attempts of rainbow capitalism will only further demolish corporate brand loyalty and leave more inclined to support smaller, diverse-owned shops

Begging you to understand that trans people existing is not a thing you need to take your children aside to explain like it’s a cautionary tale

Once again, your friends, your peers, your coworkers with comics, games and shows are making the crucial, life-changing and thought-provoking stories you want.

Support them as much, if not MORE THAN your favorite brand name.

Trans people need your outspoken, defiant, outraged and ACTIVE support in the face of violent legislature.
Cancelling Disney+ or deciding not watching a show is not activism.
It doesn’t ease trans people’s suffering, it doesn’t change anything, it just makes you feel good.

We Palestinians have been asked to honor the humanity of the civilians killed by Hamas in Israel. I can do that, without hesitation. No civilian deserves to lose their life, and I have all too much experience of the suffering that war inflicts. But I cannot accept that it is right for the humanity of only one side of this conflict to be acknowledged. Three thousand children have died all around me in the past 20 days. Are their lives not worth mourning? Do they deserve to only be remembered as statistics?
