I get comments from folks who don't even watch The Simpsons (but watch the vids anyway) and their perspective of the show must be very strange now 🤔

I try to catch myself whenever I get overly summary-ish but it's hard. I do get comments sometimes criticizing that I assume the audience knows exactly what happened in the episode too much. Been trying to find a balance of not being too inside-baseball-y when talking about nerdy fandom stuff.

The annoying thing is they actually had some decent insights that supported the title's thesis. I just wish they would have presented those pieces as a constructed argument instead of spreading throughout a lengthy walkthrough for context

My mistake was clicking on a hour long video and not expecting 45 minutes of it to be recap of a game I've already played

The star-studded English dub was good but I did find Will Ferrell's casting distracting. His voice is so recognizable his that it took me a bit out of the film

I saw Arco last night. Very good overall. While its story is fairly simple, it has some strong themes and cool futuristic world building. It kinda feels like Castle in the Sky meets E.T.? Like a French filmmaking approach to a Ghibli film (in a complimentary way for both)

I'm sure some folks may have been turned on it. But the general reaction to that essay I've seen is, "it's a good read but I dunno what their deal with Marge Be Not Proud is"

I would say it's doubtful, since I already did a Marge Be Not Proud review.
Also, while some Simpsons fans like the Zombie Simpsons essay, I think the general opinion is that they were offbase with their Marge Be Not Proud take. That argument never did really take hold in the Simpsons fandom

It depends on what the media landscape looks like. But with nostalgic GenX'ers and Millennials (and later) around, I could see them doing limited reboots. Like Disney advertising a 10 or 20 episode series about Bart's Family is definitely the kind of thing they would attempt

I do think if they do go to 1000 episodes, Harry Shearer and/or Julie Kavner will retire. Shearer is currently 82, you'd think he would want to hang it up

Imagine The Simpsons finishing its run at a pathetic number like 837 episodes.

A buddy asked me if I think The Simpsons will make it to 1000 episodes. And I said, "of course, they may as well at this point," forgetting that is like another decade long commitment

On Monday night, I did an exploratory, "is there enough in-show content" research session on a very niche Simpsons topic. And the answer, of course, was "look at this can of worms you opened"

Researching The Simpsons is amazing because there are so many episodes where they do weird shit, that you could get a 15 minute video out of something like the school jungle gym

I dunno if Simpson Safari would make for a good one because my dislike is mostly jokes related, in how it's like a conga line of lousy jokes

It's like that scene from Moneyball where the players discover they have to buy their own soda from the machine

But I have no basement and very little closet space 🙁
