For the record, I haven’t watched a State of the Union live in decades. It’s pretty lousy television 😂. Transcripts do the job the next day without the constant applause and posturing. Also, if I don’t have to listen to him, then I’m going that route every damn time…

It seems the problem with a lot of the potential “solutions” is that incentives for a team to avoid tanking don’t necessarily correlate with the interest of a player. Like, does the last guy on the bench really care about whether or not their franchise loses draft picks?

Rewriting history is not the answer, removing access to history is not the answer, pretending that it never happened is not the answer. Teaching the future about the whole picture is not teaching hating your country, it’s literally teaching HISTORY.

As a person who treats history as sacred, I cannot emphasize how dangerous that is. How are we supposed to move forward without reflecting on the things that need to be changed? You can believe in the greatness of the promise of America AND understand that horrible things have been done in its name.

It feels worth stating, this year in particular, that Black History is AMERICAN history. There are far too many people, particularly in the current government, that would have you believe otherwise. They want you to believe that our history has been without flaw, without error, without hate.
