I think it’s quite risky to hedge our entire economy on a technology that is built entirely on stolen data.

Something I’ve noticed is there seems to be a sort of pervasive assumption that the status quo has gravity. That there’s a natural, comfortable way things should be and that deviations from the normal state of the world will correct themselves in time.

But as a paleontologist, I know this is false.

People feel that they have a better chance to win the lottery than realizing the impact of their vote. Particularly when dump says that musk rigged the machines for him. I imagine people thinking that at least the lotto is less rigged even though they have to pay to play.

If a temporary resident of the White House can totally demolish the East Wing to build a gaudy ballroom, without any authority, approval, or regulation, he can tear down the rest of the White House to build a Walmart. That this destruction is allowed underscores how off the rails our country is now.
