I got described as a "senior" consultant the other day and I was immediately "no, no, we're not having any of that thank you!"
28.07.2025 12:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0And I love that both Marvel and DC have had successful summer blockbusters with their core characters being the best versions of themselves. V welcome at the moment.
27.07.2025 19:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Really enjoyed Fantastic Four (after being a bit nervous!)
It barrels along, went a couple of places I wasn't expecting, thought the cast were all ace (Quinn was a *much* better Johnny than I thought he'd be, I liked what they did with him), and their world was great
Few minor nitpicks :)

A cardboard sign reading 'Parents supporting trans rights' at the London Trans Pride march 2025
London Trans Pride 2025: I've never seen so many cis people showing up for trans rights.
Labour may be trying to drag us back to Section 28 - but we never had support like this back then.
Fab evening being shown around the National Portrait Gallery by Coco (the Time Tart) dishing the dirt and REAL stories on all those well-hung paintings ๐ฅณ๐คฃ
(Yes, Coco is VERY tall (and fabulously stylish))

Huge crowd, loved the vibe, v different to London Pride - feels a lot more relevant and needed right now: visible, loud and proud, defiant, good-natured, anti-corporate. A proper protest to keep reminding everyone that #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Trans flag with a picture of an alligator and the words 'fuck around and find out'
Loving the tone of Trans+ Pride to start.

26.07.2025 12:18 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My dictation software processed "neurodiverse young people" as "protect the universe young people" and my brain immediately jumped to neurodiverse people being part of a Jenny Sparks/Elijah Snow "Century Baby" type protective mechanism for humanity and you know what, I'm ok with that idea

22.07.2025 06:20 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If you've seen the film and want more Superman by creators who *get* it, go read the Morrison/Quitely All-Star Superman, which inspired a lot of the feel of Gunn's film
22.07.2025 06:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A few years back I was in Belfast, and a market trader was using a curtain from the bedroom Superman set I had as a kid as a tablecloth
It wasn't for sale but I persuaded him to sell it to me anyway
Keep meaning to do something with the material ๐คฃ
Anyway. Superman rocks, and Gunn gets it
I'm a Marvel kid but ... the first American comic stories I ever read were UK Superman Annuals, the first superhero film I ever saw was the Donner/Reeve Superman, and my duvet and curtains were Superman
That Williams theme has echoed in my head since I was a kid. It still makes me shiver inside
Loved Superman btw!
It was both sillier and darker than I was expecting, pulled off a Silver Age vibe with style, had a stellar cast, used the Williams theme brilliantly, and fundamentally was about the importance of just being a decent, kind person standing up for what is right
Just been reminded we graduated as doctors a quarter of a century ago today ๐ฒ
