Part of the problem is the conflation between generative AI (completely bollocks “spicy autocomplete” that’s killing the planet) and machine learning (the scientific uses to expose patterns in enormous data sets which can then be explored by humans)

Fixed your headline for you "Government votes through Children’s Wellbeing Bill despite Tory demand for new National Grooming gang inquiry which would have killed the legislation, had it been successful." You're welcome!

@theguardian.comm why do you illustrate every article about migrants with a picture of an RNLI lifeboat, even when the article has nothing to do with small boat crossings?

Nothing racist about it. It wasn’t even a joke about her working in McDonalds, the joke was her thinking that doing so changed her social class. The statement that was actually bigoted was her original remark which essentially shows she thinks only working class people can work in McDonalds.

However for the time being streaming service executives, owners and shareholders are making lots of money, so perhaps that’ Ok? Hint: it isn’t.

Tip jars are great, but i doubt artists will be able to live on tips. Spotify and friends have destroyed the market for CD sales by small artists without providing any alternate revenue stream and while still exploiting their work. This can’t continue and the world will be a worse place a a result.

“all Melbourne tickets are transferable to Sydney”. So Sydney has capacity to take everyone booked for Melbourne? Though with an 18 hour round trip by car I can’t see many people taking up that offer.

It’s December 1st and we should all pay homage to Rosa Parks today. On this day in 1955 she decided not to give her seat up on a bus in Alabama, and well the rest is history. We are all going to need to channel our Rosa Park’s for the next four years! Thank you Rosa for showing us how to #Resist

…and remember that all the testing and demos will be done at corporate HQ with good fast networking, not at the far end of platform 3 on a dark rainy night using a old phone with a dying battery.

In 1890, the X and Y chromosomes were discovered. It was found that the men who were tested had 46 chromosomes, including an X and a Y, while women who were tested also had 46 chromosomes, including 2 X chromosomes.
So obviously the conclusion was that the Y chromosome defined masculinity.

There is the additional issue of w3w using a proprietary algorithm controlled by a single private company that has made a significant loss for many years. While largely free to use now, imagine what might happen if lots of organisations came to depend on it…

500 acres is about 200ha. Only about a quarter of farms are bigger than 100ha (https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/agricultural-facts-england-regional-profiles/agricultural-facts-summary#:~:text=The%20average%20English%20farm%20size,vary%20considerably%20across%20England's%20regions)

My previous place of work merged two vaguely-overlapping sub-Dunbar’s number departments onto one big department. It never really worked (at least not for me).

The ‘record numbers’ the headline refers to is 2133 in a year.

In a World where being LGBT is a criminal offence in 64 countries, carrying the death penalty in at least 12. Strangely the journalist doesn’t see fit to mention that…
