Notably his back started really bothering him as August ended. I think if we give him a couple days off a week then he can be an 85-90ish wRC+ player, which with his defense is like a 2.5 WAR guy.

Hampson isn’t on the 40 man. So if it’s short term it’s likely Arroyo. If whoever has to go on the 60 then you could add Hampson. I don’t think anything short term is worth a DFA of Callihan or Rodriguez

I think even without injuries Arroyo has the widest lane of any of the guys projected off the roster to move up the depth chart. If she goes nuclear in the WBC that means more than somebody going nuclear in Goodyear.

There’s a lot of depth between Collier and the bigs but Arroyo is basically one unfortunate injury away from making the roster and getting a lot of PT. If McLain were to get hurt then Arroyo makes the roster and if Elly does then he’s your starting OD SS. Obviously hope that doesn’t happen.

Collier had a nice play at third. I also am watching Arroyo’s pop following his shoulder surgery and it looks like it was there.

I’m guessing we see something along the lines of:

IF we ever get healthy, and I have doubts that we ever do, that looks so much better and would allow guys not to press as much. Our bench there is Espinal, Trevino, Fraley/Benson(?), and Dunn(?), which isn’t great but better than what we have now.

I’m less “I want to see Will Benson” and more “I want Spencer Steer to have a full IL stint”. At that point call up Benson, Hinds, Marte, Callihan, whoever. Benson or Hinds probably make the most sense.

I’m hoping it’s not that or an injury. I want to keep the positive vibes for at least a series before the pessimism bursts through like the Kool Aid Man
