A brand new coach from Kentucky finishes up his first season at Troy with a 4-8 record.

We’ve been down this road before. Thing is, Gerad Parker’s debut season was more impressive than Neal Brown’s.

This is the part of the show that I point out how black is a Troy color. The Trojans wore black jerseys and helmets for the majority of their time in FCS in the 1990s.

They also famously wore them again against FAU in the 2005 Al Lucas tribute game.

Technically, the 2019 unis were the debut of the “Trojan Smoke,” a year before the helmets were revealed. It’s still comparable because they were worn on the Thanksgiving week game.

Since then, Troy has worn black unis with the chrome or Trojan Smoke helmets four times. Again, we won’t talk about it.

Troy played Southern Miss in the 1920s and 1930s, and the modern series picked back up with the New Orleans Bowl in 2008.
In between those games, Southern Miss became Troy’s first Division I opponent.
