YS Seven for the PSP

For #RandomGameSaturday I have YS Seven for the PSP. I, unfortunately, haven’t gotten to this one yet so it is still sealed. Hope to play a bunch of Ys games this year though because I am fascinated with the series.

So is it an actual NES ROM embedded in there that is playable on real hardware? If so, my interest in picking this up just skyrocketed.

I am modding a Dreamcast to dual-boot a custom BIOS and the original BIOS so I can more easily back up my games and launch them from a Compact Flash Card.

I do extensive modding and repairing of old video game consoles (and some other electronics too)

I got to play it today and it is stunning. What a clean and polished game. It really is a delight to be playing such a well thought out and brilliantly executed Sonic game. Great work!

Mega CD recap successful. This was a tough one.

For those that don’t know, Mega/Sega CDs are notorious for having failing capacitors and one sign of a failing capacitor is it leaking fluid (which if left alone will eat away at circuit board). This fluid smells like fish.

I most recently played through Metroid Prime Remastered and chose to play it almost entirely on my Switch OLED. That screen is so much better looking than the Switch 2. Really makes me hope Nintendo will be releasing an OLED model of the Switch 2.

Resident Evil 2 for the PlayStation

For #randomgamesaturday I have Resident Evil 2. This was another NTSC game that I bought from a European seller who I think was having trouble getting rid of it. It’s the one with the weird “win a part in the movie” badge that I guess makes it more valuable but I think looks uglier.

How do you like the new OLED display on that Switch Lite? I had pre-ordered that mod but after multiple delays, I decided to cancel and just sell my Switch Lite.

Really wish the whole game was on the cartridge. Seminal games deserve better than this.

Man, I really liked The Fountain. Maybe had more to do with Clint Mansell than Darren Aronofsky tho…
