I’d wager that, were they able to perform all but ordination, without let or hindrance, they’d be less fractious, because they could recruit new priests (with with being just short of a “rule based order”), but Leo ain’t likely to grant that.

Part of their complaint is they didn’t get the “No harm no foul”, as their priests are limited in sacramental function and they are admonished that they ought not limit themselves to just SSPX churches.

And Leo seems to have told them that’s not changing.

The old view was that lawsuits create change by making precedent. Fuck that. You know how lawsuits prevent harm now? By being so fucking annoying to deal with.

My actual job description is activist and here’s what I tell people in despair all the time: do not underestimate how much harm you can prevent by being just a little bit annoying.

This is one reason I keep trying to remind people of the power that we have. That we have *always* had. Not because I’m in denial, but because I know history. I’m no sophisticated intellectual, but I do know we’re going to win even though the bad shit is really terrible right now.

I do think it's meaningfully different because the threat isn't as concentrated, but as a Central Texan: regular-ass fuckos have been big organizing here ESPECIALLY after both of these state-sanctioned murders so that we know how to track/report the secret police. Ramped up, not down.
