Ooh, I think I maybe even remember my (approximate) position based on how long the waitlist was when I signed up. Are there still two waitlists based on people's self-assessment of their need?

13.02.2026 01:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't know a lot about how ATproto labels work, but where do I subscribe for the "please show only annoying politics in my feed"?
08.02.2026 00:59 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Crossword with three common gender pronoun clues: 13 across: him or her, a suggested common gender pronoun; 18 across, he or she, a suggested common gender pronoun. 40 across, that one; he, she, or it, suggested common gender pronoun, third person.
Pronouns in the news, 1930 ed: antedating and author identified. Richard Tingley, prolific crossword setter, put three common-gender pronoun clues in a puzzle that ran in late 1930; this one appeared in the Rockford (IL) Star, Dec. 28, p. 23. The puzzle ran the next day in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
05.02.2026 19:05 β π 7 π 5 π¬ 0 π 2Ooh, nice. I solved this but didn't notice the byline until now. I especially like 39 down but there were some other fun clues/answers.
08.02.2026 00:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I especially am glad to see "onboarding new volunteers". You'd know better than me what kinds of help you are ready for just now. But many hands makes light work, or something like that.
31.01.2026 05:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That does sound like a crisis moment. You might not play well enough to be invited back to a future tour. And no cricketing tour means no cricketing tour sausages.
31.01.2026 03:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Am I to conclude something about the powerfulness of the batting by the fact that the car owners don't seem worried about a cricket ball going through their window despite them being parked pretty much up at the boundary?
22.01.2026 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Very disappointed I'm going to be out of town that day. This puts me at 1 for 3 on Westwords attendance. Better luck next year!
11.01.2026 22:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd go to my local yarn shop (I have one in mind for San Francisco, the name of which I could dig up upon request) and ask if they have any books or the like which explain things starting from the beginning or very close. Good luck and have fun!
03.01.2026 00:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0[X] I'm in this picture and I don't like it
31.12.2025 21:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fair, but even a non-estimate estimate like "50 invites went out today" is so nice to read.
27.12.2025 06:50 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Downtown Sheraton in Philadelphia. Seems to be walkable from Amtrak's 30th street station and also near SEPTA.
03.12.2025 23:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In particular, assuming not p, deriving a contradiction, and thus concluding p, is indeed not constructive. But constructive proofs can assume p, derive a contradiction, and thus conclude not p. The placement of the negations matters.
03.12.2025 23:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For a (only slightly) more technical introduction (which covers the theorem about two irrational numbers a and b such that a^b is rational, proof by contradiction, etc), see "Five stages of accepting constructive mathematics" by Andrej Bauer at www.ams.org/journals/bul...
03.12.2025 23:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why am I just now learning of the existence of crosshare? I could quibble with some of how it works but I love the idea of a community driven crossword platform.
03.12.2025 16:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As long as the ACPT 2027 venue is easy to get to via Amtrak or SEPTA I'm down with it.
03.12.2025 16:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Have any sleuths figured out the manufacturer for the old peanut butter and whether it is sold under other brands in other locations?
30.11.2025 21:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What percentage of social media in Europe is now on open platforms? (Is there even yet a mechanism to measure this?)
30.11.2025 21:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Are any of the crosswords aimed at kids any good? I see your point about spelling so maybe I mean in a year or a few, but we gotta recruit the next generation of solvers somehow.
26.11.2025 19:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wasn't thinking you needed one but that was before I heard about the mashed potato bar and now my resolve is weakening.
26.11.2025 19:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0With the disappointing news out of Amuse Labs this week that they have built an AI agent for creating crossword puzzles, we want to reiterate: there is no AI at Crosswordr. We do not train models on your content.
We're about supporting and empowering constructors, and have been since day one.
My experience on fedi has been that some moderators very much fuel or are drawn into squabbles and some moderators very much try to work quietly, stay out of fights they can stay out of, etc. I would agree that the language in the NorthSky guidelines is encouraging.
05.11.2025 04:03 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fermat's Last Theorem is a famous example of a question which can be stated using only naturals and whose proof requires a lot of machinery.
But in fact the AM-GM inequality, just for β, can be stated purely using β (clear denoms, raise everything to n'th power). Is there a simple proof avoiding β?
This is a nice summary of where we are on a few fronts. The difference between a theorem (which can be mechanically verified) and a definition (which cannot, at least not directly) is an interesting one.
22.10.2025 16:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm afraid you have summed up in one post the situation we find ourselves in these days (like, in general).
21.10.2025 15:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, since I'm in trouble anyway (no doubt) I'll say out loud what the (implied) joke here is: that "thicknesses of a human hair" is the airline unit of distance for small distances. (and yes to contrast airlines from engine makers)
13.10.2025 15:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Context is everything.... so use your judgement. I'm just saying I don't expect to be spoon fed all the time even though I'm the intended audience for such explanations (and sometimes benefit from them).
13.10.2025 15:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh and at the risk of stating the obvious, please don't start defining RASM, CASM, ancillary, etc. Even people who didn't know what they were to start can pick them up (assuming enough interest to, y'know, listen to a podcast like this in the first place).
13.10.2025 15:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0ROFL uh...... er...... I ..... as a non-airline person will say nothing further to avoid getting myself into even more trouble.
