I'm up to my neck in "Mistborn", a dense (but enjoyable) fantasy book where different metals give you different magical abilities.

There is, of course, a plot to overthrow the evil ruler underway. - Michael

Time to see what the team are reading this week!

Bert is reading "Weyward", which I believe is the book club pick this week. It's about generations of witches and the men who tried to stop them. - Michael

Lovely to greet the postman and see that @bertsbooks.bsky.social packaging. I opened it to find the first book in my Frederick Backman subscription so beautifully packaged

Currently editing my first YouTube video. Taking out all the umms... but it seems a shame to waste them, so here they are.

(with a sneak glimpse at some of the books I'll be talking about)

Helm, Sarah Hall. The one the Booker judges missed. The one about a wind.

Flesh by David Szalay. It’s really good but extremely intense.

Just finished My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh which I’d avoided for years while everyone raved about it, then gave in and read, and it was so good. Loved it.

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. I read it about ten years ago and completely forgot it takes nearly a hundred pages before they are in Milton.
The BBC adaptation definitely hurries The Hale’s departure from the South.
