Euroopan äärimmäiset kesät pitenevät – ja suuntaus voi kiihtyä | GTK Uudet tutkimustulokset vahvistavat käsitystä, että Euroopan kesät voivat pidentyä merkittävästi vuoteen 2100 mennessä.

Uusi tutkimus osoittaa, että Euroopan kesät voivat pidentyä vuosisadan loppuun mennessä jopa 40 päivällä. Syynä on arktisen alueen nopea lämpeneminen, joka heikentää lämpötilaeroa päiväntasaajan ja pohjoisnavan välillä ja tekee kesän säätiloista pysyvämpiä.

FINMARI benthic lander ready for deployment

Another successful deployment of the #Finmari benthic lander.

It will measure near-bottom flow, particle and nutrient dynamics for the next 10 weeks in the RCF #PHYTOTRANS project.

Submarine springs exist all over the world. They require specific local conditions such as permeable sediment or bedrock layers that direct the groundwater flow to the spring. Finding them therefore requires luck!

Groundwater springs can influence marine ecosystems by importing nutrients, for example. They are also important sites for the spawning of some fish.
Citizens can of course help us find more of these interesting locations.
