As part of the @tricuso.bsky.social project, we deployed a profiling float equipped with a passive acoustic sensor and showed that wind speed can be retrieved from subsurface ambient noise with good agreement to buoy observations.

Coolest thing ever 🤩

This morning we were introduced to the CaPASOS pCO2 sensor by the @exeter.ac.uk team, and then got to build a lite version ourselves to understand how it works. From bubbling the equilibrator to testing calibration with reference gas! 🫧⚗️

That’s the only downside you have to go get it in most scenarios. So in most areas it’s fine but if you’re putting it on a mooring in the Southern Ocean you have to hope you can embark to go get it!

In the afternoon, we spent time with the @noc.ac.uk team to get hands-on with their Lab-On-Chip systems for DIC and TA — miniaturized chemical analyzers that can perform complex carbonate chemistry measurements.

Never been more motivated to write grants so I can buy all these shiny new toys 💸
