"I'll have meat and yogurt," said the Health Secretary, his voice box rattling like a decaying wooden roller coaster. "It's healthier," he added, as his forehead skin exploded into black and maroon flowers of biotic rot and his nose slid off his face into his plate of raw chicken pieces.

DuckDuckGo in the App Store, now titled "DuckDuckGo, Duck.ai (optional)"

This to me is such a hilarious indicator of where things are at with this. Fully changing the name of the app in the store to be like "look we spent all this money on AI please use it please please" followed up with "but don't worry we know our user base hates it so you can turn it off if you want"

Added a hidden β€œcolor stats for nerds” view to OKPalette.

Built it for myself during dev, then spent a bit of time making it look decent and shipped it.

Press CMD/ctrl + i if you enjoy staring at chroma + hue distributions way too much.

It has become quite clear why all the bad shit didn't get unpicked after the election. Sure, hound them out.

But the unpicking will still need to happen, or we are stuck here, all the awful shit embedded into our institutions.

Since #bbclaurak is trending, let’s remind ourselves that ONE MONTH ago, the BBC invited Mandelson on for a soft-ball interview on her show. While HIS CLIENT , Palantir’s Louis Moseley appeared as a pundit

Both, as I wrote at time, were β€˜abject failures of journalism’

An alt measure that looks at lack of access to 14 amenities (a warm house, three meals a day) found 2m children living in β€œdeep material poverty”.

Yet nearly half of them would not have been covered by the official poverty measure!

Dodgy data aside, is an income-based measure of poverty still fit for purpose?

According to DWP data, 315,000 children living in relative poverty - defined as earning 60% of average income, adjusting for household size - were in households with more than Β£10k in savings!

No this isn't allowed. We aren't allowed to see systemic corruption in the UK. Once the designated fall guy is picked, we must focus all our efforts into him. Pulling on too many threads runs a risk of unraveling the whole thing.

Starmer faces questions over visit to Palantir office alongside Mandelson Former ambassador was also shareholder in lobbying group that counted US tech firm as a client

New on FT website:

Downing Street has refused to say whether Sir Keir Starmer knew Palantir was a client of Peter Mandelson’s lobbying firm when they both visited the company in Washington last February β€” ahead of it winning a Β£240mn UK government contract.

There's no reason to accept this as normal, though. Much of Starmer and Labour's unpopularity is not misfortune but his own doing. Mandelson was a choice. Consistently pursuing policy positions designed to appeal to people who will not vote for you - and alienating core supporters - is a choice.

US government to fund Maga-aligned think-tanks and charities in Europe State department grants to spread β€˜American values’ are part of Washington’s 250th anniversary celebrations

This is MAGA ideological imperialism.

It's disguised as a "free speech" crusade. In reality, the Trump admin seeks to coerce Europe into deregulating digital environments to enable unimpeded extremist content that radicalises voters into supporting far-right populists.
