It doesn't take long, and it's super great. Driving through English narrow streets at 30 feels insane.

UK road safety push could see mandatory eye tests for older drivers Ministers also considering lowering drink-drive limit among measures to reduce road deaths and injuries

Doesn't say if England is going to have a 20 mile limit, like Wales has successfully done. If safety is the emphasis, the numbers speak for themselves.

holy crap.

"In Ireland, there are more than 80 data centres, gobbling up 50 per cent of the electricity in the Dublin region, and hoovering up more than 20 per cent nationally, as they work to process and distribute huge quantities of digital information."

The Trump regime seems to think Russia has "earned" land by murdering Ukraine's civilians, kidnapping its children and raping its women.

FYI many critical government online services are still very hard to use for many of their users. Why does this person need to upload a file?

Helping neighbour fill out universal credit, on their iphone. Have to upload a cv. They've done one using OpenOffice on their windows laptop. Laptop has no internet. How to transfer Cv to that form on a phone?

I couldn't do it, she had no chance. We took photos of the laptop screen instead.

if I ever go properly "screaming about nothing in particular in the street" mad it will be due to having spent too much time having read about the opinions of men who have absolutely never cared about women's rights for one moment in their lives but decided to pretend just for the sake of racism

We are dealing with a decades-long legacy of poor building standards, cold homes, and a transport system built around cars.

Turning this around is not going to be cheap, butΒ  it's probably one of the best investments we can make into the future.

AI industry horrified to face largest copyright class action ever certified Copyright class actions could financially ruin AI industry, trade groups say.

The crux of their argument is that if they're found liable, then the consequences of their own actions that no one forced them to take could ruin them and the rest of their industry that undertakes similar practices.

Why England’s new towns should look to medieval France The UK government’s taskforce is preparing to publish its next-generation proposals. Could the markets, maisons and master planning of Europe’s still thriving 13th-century towns provide the answers?

This is a great read for a Saturday morning, emphasising the importance of planning how *communities* can be established when building homes: www.ft.com/content/e5d0...

Mexit, not Brexit, is the new priority for the UK Opinion: A Microsoft Exit strategy isn’t just a good idea, it’s vital. It must go a long way beyond a farewell to Redmond

While this is certainly a good idea, I'm seeing momentum in the opposite direction. Future GOV people will regret the decisions made now, probably not reversable either.

Body text: "Theft is now legal, so we can boost the economy by eliminating jobs. If that doesn't make any sense, ask a chatbot to explain it to you." HM government logo in the corner.
