So our first demo to senior management was a list of osses browsable by Arabian geldings

The first “linked data” we got was a list of osses and the breeds of those osses and whether or not they had genitals

So the first list we got was a list of venues. Running tracks and swimming baths and whatnot

But not from a demoing to management point of view

Their approach was not mental. They worked inwards from the “reference data” toward the events. Which, from an implementation point of view, makes sense

And the Olympic people were quite jealous of their intellectual property, so they only let the data leak out. Very slowly

We felt perfectly prepared. But it turned out the Olympic people have a “data partner”. In memory they were called Delta Tray, but that can’t be right

I did meet one or two of those dotcom refugees and, let me tell you, one or two were insufferable. I would never wish ill on anyone - it’s not the kinda guy I am - but a spell on the dole may have lead to more rounded characters. That’s all I’m saying
