I’m a Janome girl and I love my Skyline S6, but for something cheaper I would recommend something like the juki hzl lb5020 (made by janome) for the needle up/down function. I’ve sewn for decades without it, but miss it on my older machines.

What's your budget? Happy to recommend something that shouldn't give you too much trouble
