The entire perspective of the Trump admin, and it’s supporters, is that if you back your opposition into a corner where the choices are violence or complete submission, you can always paint the violence as antisocial, radical, and an offense to national security.

The press has aided that goal.

Every time the Supreme Court dumps a load of decisions right before heading off for vacation, I'm reminded of how Clarence Thomas marked the conclusion of one SCOTUS session by boarding a private jet to Indonesia where he and Ginny island-hopped aboard Harlan Crow's 162-foot superyacht:

Per the NYTimes, a Disciples of Christ pastor confronted agents (presumably ICE) in front of her church as they detained a man.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.
