On the weaponization of personal data: "If combined with the facial recognition and social media monitoring commonly deployed by the Department of Homeland Security, those reams of data would turbocharge ICEβs terror campaign in the short term and destroy American civil liberties in the long term."

IMLS Announces Grant Funding to βCombat Antisemitismβ
Discretionary grant funding of almost $3 million for four institutions was announced by the Institute of Museum and Library Services on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27.
More IMLS propaganda grants. This time, money in alignment with Trump executive orders to "combat anti-semitism" [sic].
It's getting REALLY BAD in the propaganda department at IMLS. This is your money being stolen for Trump-Vance projects.

Arkansas Puts Complete Ban on Incoming Books, Magazines, Other Materials for Incarcerated Individuals
Starting February 1, Arkansas prisons will ban individuals from receiving books, magazines, and newspapers in the mail.
Arkansas prisons will be implementing the cruelest and strictest total ban on books, magazines, and newspapers being mailed to those on the inside nationwide. The decision came using an excuse that continues to be unfounded.
This is important. It will spread.

AI bots are destroying Open Access
There's a war going on on the Internet. AI companies with billions to burn are hard at work destroying the websites of libraries, archives, ...
There's a very demoralizing thread on the code4lib list where all the libraries describe how they're getting hammered by AI crawlers who behave basically like bot-nets trying to DDoS servers. (Along these lines: go-to-hellman.blogspot.com/2025/03/ai-b... ) 1/2
