oppression and exploitation can only exist through oppressive and violent structures. physical and mental violence coexist to keep capitalism alive. and before you say "what about manipulation", it is a form of mental violence aswell.

under these circumstances, starvation is a deliberate tool of oppression and is a form of physical violence as it makes living a healthy life physically impossible. the threat of unemployment is the threat of physical violence through starvation, which itself is a form of psychological violence.

here is where you can find the violence, for example through starvation: starvation in the second quarter of the 21st century could easily be eliminated as we do have enough resources and production the feed the whole of the human society. but we do not under our capitalist reality.

if the grocery worker can't organize for better conditions with the threat of getting fired, can't find a better job, and has to work there one way or another, they will have to accept these horrible working conditions so that they can just survive and not be able to enjoy life on a low income.

let's go with some solid examples from turkey. a grocery worker works in turkey under extremely exploitative circumstances, usually for 6d/week for 12h/day for an unliveable income. high unemployment rates, weak labor laws, and terrible working conditions are infamous in turkey.

the threat of unemployment is one of the most basic and systematic forms of oppresion. if a person can't contribute their labor power to the society they can't benefit from it. unemployment opens the way for starvation, homelesness, crime, etc.; in short, depravation of one's basic human rights.

labor power is absolutely necessary for the survival of the individual and for the continuation of the society. exploitation in this context is the unjust apprehension of one's labor power and the right to disposal of this stolen labor power. capitalism requires exploitation to exist.

the threat of unemployment is a form of violence exercised by the capitalist system. whenever i talk about this i catch some heat but i will write my ideas about this here aswell. 👇

bunun şiddete varan kısmı ise işsizliğin sonuçlarıdır. açlıktan gidelim. hepimize yetecek kadar kaynağımız ve üretimimiz varken açlık çeken insanlar aslında kasıtlı olarak aç bırakılan insanlardır. açlık bu nedenle yaşamı imkansız kılan kasıtlı bir şiddet türüdür. işsizlik tehdidi, şiddettir.

türkiye'deki yüksek işsizlik, geri kalmış işçi hakları, kötü çalışma koşulları bu senaryoyu gerçek kılıyor nitekim mağazalarda çalışan insanların çalışma koşulları da budur. düşük ücretlerle korkunç şartlarda çalışmak zorundadırlar.

günde 12, haftada 6 gün çalışan bir mağaza işçisi; eğer şartlarını iyileştirmek için işten atılma tehdidiyle örgütlenemiyorsa, daha iyi şartlarda bir iş bulamıyor hatta başka bir iş bulamıyorsa, burada çalışmak zorundaysa, bu insanlık dışı şartlarda çalışmadığı sürece işsizlik tehdidi altındadır.

işsizlik tehdidi, kapitalizmin başvurduğu en temel baskılardan birisidir. işsiz kalan insan topluma emeğini kazandıramaz ve toplumdan faydalanamaz. işsiz kalan bir insan aç, susuz, evsiz vb.; kısaca temel haklarından ayrı kalır. türkiye bağlamında somut bir örnekten yola çıkalım.

emek, toplumun sürekliliği ve insanın hayatta kalabilmesi için şarttır. emek olmazsa yaşam ve toplum var olamaz. emek sömürüsü ise emeğinin alıkonması ve başkalarının kullanımında olmasıdır. kapitalizm, devamlılığı için emek sömürüsüne ihtiyaç duyar. bu sömürüyü de çeşitli baskılarla sana dayatır.

işsizlik tehdidi de kapitalist sistemin uyguladığı bir çeşit şiddettir. bu konuyu kime açsam bir tartışma yaşıyorum ama bu konudaki fikirlerimi burada da yazacağım. 👇
