We sold ours at half price books. They always have a really good clearance section, so we were able to get a lot of kids books for the credit we got from selling

That's an excellent idea! That was one of my favorites as a kid

And if you're not a reader, you could put a few nonperishable food items or hygiene items for those in need instead. I'm trying to be better at giving back to my community more. What are some other small things you all do to give back to your local community?

I'm so pleased to see such a positive response to my last post. A small act of giving back to our community is inspiring others, and that's all I could hope for! I hope all of you go out and put a book or two you no longer intend to read into a local free library for your community to enjoy!

That's exactly what we did! We were able to get a bunch of books on clearance too. We're going to keep them in the car and drop off a few every time we pass one of the little libraries

lol for us it's books that maybe aren't as relevant for us anymore or that we know we won't read again. We sell them/give them away so they can have a second life and others can enjoy them!

Today my girlfriend and I sold books we no longer want and used the money we got back to buy children's books for the little free libraries in our neighborhood. It was so fun to pick out books for the kids. We will absolutely be doing this again

I'm still trying to figure that out, but because I'm a bit of a haphazard writer I tend to do like 4ish drafts to make sure the story is the best I can make it.

I've found that allowing myself to deviate from an outline or plan helps my stories be stronger in the long run because sometimes as I write I come to understand my themes or characters better whilst writing. That allows me to come up with plot points that end up suiting the story I'm telling better

If the planned ending I came up with doesn't end up fitting the story, I'll often write a new outline for draft 2 to make sure the story and structure are cohesive, but I'm not opposed to letting the novel have a mind of its own. I'm 50/50 between planning and winging it when I write

What always happens is I plan it, then the novel gets a mind of its own and goes off the rails, so I end up winging it when I actually get to the ending lol

Let me tell you, trying to keep myself engaged in writing and editing an entire 115k word fantasy novel while battling my ADHD desire for novelty and new projects is an Olympic sport. Any tips on not losing interest would be greatly appreciated!

Writing something deeply personal and meaningful that also happens to have a coven of little girls murdering people.

It's nice to be in the editing stage of my book. I so rarely get this far. It's so novel getting to reread what I've written. Yeah, it needs a lot of changes, but I'm a little surprised to find how in love I am with the story still despite it's flaws 💜

No matter how far down the rabbit hole you are, you can always dig yourself back out and be better, do better, and show up for the people who need you. Effie teaches us that anyone can fall victim to propaganda, but anyone can also escape it (4/4)

I LOVE that we get to see her in the movies coming back in Mockingjay and eventually becoming part of the resistance. I think she teaches us that even good people can fall victim to propaganda, and it's okay to admit you were wrong. It's okay to learn and grow from what you once knew. (3/4)

But who is presented to us as an overall good person. We watch her be a champion for Katniss and Peeta over and over until she sees them less as pieces of entertainment and more as people who deserved better. We see that character growth, see that she isn't okay with what Snow does in book two (2/4)

So I've been thinking more and more about The Hunger Games, and I think one of the only big mistakes Suzanne made was leaving Effie out of the second half of the series. I love the arc that the movies gave her. We got someone fully drinking the capitol koolaid (1/4)
