As a #neurospicy author, I find sticking to one project is really challenging, especially if I'm in a hard slog phase that doesn't give me any dopamine.

It was definitely The Chronicles of Narnia for me; the storytelling and the worldbuilding draws you in with its marvelous combination of religion, magic, fairy tale, and mythology. I wanted to read more stories like it, so I decided to write my own (without the preaching bits)

Orpheus by Sara Bareilles always reminds me of Clary in Where the Heart Is:

I hope my love was someone else's solid ground ๐ŸŽถ

Bending the rules a bit here, but my first and main source of inspiration was the video game Dark Souls. The dark, hostile atmosphere of its worldbuilding really made me think "hey I want to make worlds like that".

Iโ€™ve mentioned it before, but Margaret Weisโ€™s Star of the Guardians series is what really made me want to write. Those books blended sci-fi and fantasy and reminded me of Star Trek and Star Wars! I wanted to craft stories like those ones. And here I am, doing exactly that!

For me it was reading something that should have been amazing, and somewhere in the middle thinking 'I'm sure I could do better than this...'

Since then I've just written what I want to read, be that an Old Testament Space Opera or ZX Spectrum based GameLit.

Gotta be Anne of Green Gables. Not only is that my favorite book, but I always felt *seen* by Anne. I *was* Anne. That feeling, of seeing yourself in a character, watching them have adventures, it's something I want to do for others. I want YOU to see yourself in my characters.

#WritingLifeMonthly 9: In Reverse was ultimately inspired by Piers Anthony's Bearing an Hourglass. I don't know that it's a book I'd read again, given the author's problematic nature. (I don't know if it showed in that book and don't need to, but at any rate, that's not the part that inspired me.)

9. #WritingLifeMonthly Mine wasnโ€™t based on another book in content or tone. I guess you could say I wrote what I wanted to read. That said, Iโ€™m no stranger to using a piece of art as a mentor text. Iโ€™m more likely to use a film or celebrity as a springboard.

For Re: Shattered Memories, I'd say a book that inspired it is Red Princess. Though the Red Princess video game is the direct inspiration. It really helped inspire the romance in the story.

Day 9 - My WIP honestly started as a fanfiction of a YA series I enjoyed when I was younger to try making it a bit more adult and fill out a lot of the empty plot points.
The series is The Selection by Kiera Cass

Day 8 - With potentially 24 MCs, it'd take a while for me to pick one out for each. I do know one would have either Let it Go or a song similar to it as her theme song

Halfwolf by Aviators feels like it was written for Clay. He's a lycanthrope desperate to protect the man he loves from the monster in him.

I mean, not really? I guess City of the Dead from the Fallout OST kinda reminds me of Dumu from my upcoming story, but that's about it. It's not really something I think about.

For most of my MCs, no. But Nozomi is a special case. There is a song (which I wonโ€™t reveal atm) that makes me think of her. In fact it was listening to that song that helped inspire her characterโ€™s creation to begin with.

๐Ÿ“š #WritingLifeMonthly I actually spent all day thinking about this and I think this song sums up both Sasha and Beatrix pretty well.

From the Moon I Watched Her by Emily English Medley inspired me to write (again). It was the first faith deconstruction fic Iโ€™d read, & I related strongly to it. Also, the complicated relationship between the MC & her mother truly hit home. It compelled me to write my own story.

For Dante from Re: Shattered Memories, it's almost certainly The Only Thing I Know For Real and Karma (Tales of the Abys OP).

Is there a song that instantly makes you think of your MC?

Not quite what you're asking, but I did have Sheryl Crow running through my head when I wrote Berky referring to Puppy as his "favorite mistake."

I have a whole playlist of songs for Daemrin, the MMC of SpaceWIP, but if I had to pick just one, it would be "Adrenaline" by Shinedown. It's the opener for the playlist because it captures his personality pretty well. #WritingLifeMonthly

8. This is her theme song. Her name was inspired by โ€œ27 Jennifersโ€ by Mike Doughty. The version I remember hearing on the radio was a lot softer. I prefer that one, but the lyrics are what piqued my interest.

Sanal's is Wild One (Faith Hill) and has been since the beginning of their conception.

Liam's...in #Shield&Scalpel, it's Saving Me (Nickelback). I'm not sure what it would be in #ChefsKiss. That remains to be seen.
