Sadly, turn-based battles ended up getting "axed" from this currently on-the-shelf project, but I really hope I get to animate things like this again! Learning to be efficient with static sprites moving around really saves time when dealing with larger sprites.

In my 15 years of experience, the happiest teams are the most efficient teams. And you can't force nor demand nor assume happiness.

But the fact is that there is zero accountability for those who can enact the greatest change. So many treating dev as a glorified hobby or a vehicle for their ego

As long as that is the case, we'll continue to have a largely disfunctional industry.

And yet, it doesn't have to be this way.

I don't think we're ready yet to talk about just how badly game dev teams are ran. AA/A, Indie, Publishing - all of them. The amount of money and energy wasted through bad planning, poor communication and sheer incompetence is staggering.

Games don't need to be this expensive or exhausting to make.
