Texas agencies ask Legislature for billions of dollars in new money in 2026-27 budget The requests for new money lean heavily toward pay raises and new hires for agencies dealing with high turnover and uncompetitive pay.

Lots of issues (some important, some definitely not) will get attention this session.

But the budget is always the most important law we pass.
