Today we remember all the lives that were forever changed 24 years ago on September 11th. We honor all the lives that were lost, and all those that saved countless lives, many while losing their own. Our thoughts are with all of their families and friends today.

I am horrified by today’s shooting of Charlie Kirk, and the shooting of students at a high school in Colorado. Yet again, gun violence is a threat to all of us!

We should NOT tolerate ANY act of violence. Against anyone. And it should always be condemned, even when we disagree vehemently

As I’ve said before, Gov. Abbott should have immediately prioritized flood safety & relief in its own session, not use the issue to leverage gerrymandering & other special interest agendas.

We wrapped up the second special session after midnight early this morning. Let’s hope it’s the last session this year.

This bill requires school districts to mail notice of proposed tax rate meetings to every property owner in the district. Schools districts have said it is a large burden on their budget.

Texas lawmakers look to seal new deal on ending STAAR exam: 'Closer than ever' Republican lawmakers seem to have agreed on a plan to replace the STAAR exam with three through-year tests for public school students.

State Sen. José Menéndez of San Antonio said this week that he supports moving to so-called through-year testing but is still reviewing the new legislation.

“I don't want us to just change the name on something and you end up with the same result,” Menéndez said.
