I can relate. Last month, I was house sitting on the Central Coast of California, and the summers there are usually abominably hot. But somehow, my entire stay, the temp was in the 70s. Cool and comfortable. I have no idea how it happened, but it was amazing.

Nice! I'm currently on my vacation in Paso Robles - also a shorter one than in years past, but a welcome break nonetheless. I probably won't write a blog post, but I may post some photos...

I'm way behind of #TimeTravelAuthors posts, but I'm still doing cool time travel stuff. Recently, I've been making plans for a time travel-themed fundraiser dinner with my theater group. And if any of you want to make the trek out to L.A., you're all totally invited.

It's always him or a Nazi. He uses his political power to keep anybody remotely qualified from running, to the point where he's basically just a foregone conclusion at this point.

It feels more like blackmail than a bribe. Trump finds a bullshit reason to sue CBS. The FCC holds up their planned merger. They settle the lawsuit, the holdup magically disappears. If you're going to call for federal charges start with the crooked head of the FCC.

A friend of mine once told me that she puts fewer chips in her cookies than the recipe calls for, because "It's all about the chip-to-cookie ratio." She also said that chocolate chips in chocolate cookies is overkill. I just think she doesn't like chocolate much.

When I used to go camping, my most commonly forgotten item was a pillow. It's bulky and difficult to pack, but also super uncomfortable to be without, especially when the hike to the campsite gave you a migraine, and now you have to put your head on either the hard ground or a wad of clothing.

You want some chocolate drink? I got some for my pirate friends, but they didn't want it, and now I'm stuck with a bunch of extra bottles of the stuff. So... Drink up me hearties' Yoo-Hoo!

A few years ago, I wrote a spoof advertisement for a Martian colony/outpost, inspired by the lyrics to Rocket Man. It began, "Mars is a great place to raise your kids - in fact, it's cool as hell!"

Personally, I think repeat letters make great fodder for bad words - especially a triple like lolly. When I look for good words for myself, I'm looking for a wide cross-section of the alphabet - common consonants, several vowels, etc. So when I pick bad words, I try to find the opposite of that.

There were actually a couple of words in the Connections puzzle a couple of weeks ago that I thought would be make good bad Wordle starter words: Myrrh and Nymph.

If it's a "you'll never guess" option, I'm going with Blame It on the Rain, as it feels largely forgotten in recent years - not to mention mildly controversial.

I wish she had said what the show was. How bad is the thing in the second act, and bad in what way? Are we talking Carousel, "He hit me and it didn't hurt"? Spring Awakening, "Totally Fucked"? I mean, she's terrible, regardless, but I'm so curious now.
