I reckon that most people in 1912 thought anyone with skin as brown as mine was a foreigner. Actually, some of the Titanic's crew called dark-skinned passengers "Italians" as though it were a slur, so maybe "foreigner" was a more polite way to say it.

Ah, thank you so much! "They" always say "You can maybe use second person in a short story but that's it" and the me of a few years ago was like "I'll show you!"

(I know mine is a bit different because the narrator uses "I", and the "you" isn't actually YOU. But I thought it was neat!)

I don't disagree! I could always picture Rocky especially being like "OH COME ON"

I feel like my younger self would probably kick me in the kidneys if she knew I wrote a "save the girl" story. But I think there's a twist in that Clara is hard to save because she insists on saving others. And she's not exactly throwing her life away; she DOES save lives. #TitanicVoyageReadalong

Aaaaah you reminded me that a minor character got upgraded to side character in part due to my existing characters being incapable of the job 😅 Side characters are the best!

I’m sorry you’re going through this! I get distracted just like that. I don’t feel like it’s a major moral failing on my part; it’s just how I’m wired. (coupled with technology being vital to use yet hard to overcome)

Again, this was a case where I did not know the character very well, so I didn’t understand his motivations and the plot was right and he wasn’t. For characters I’ve known for years, that issue is much less likely…but then again, real people you’ve known for years can surprise you, so… 🤔

I want to say “never,” but sometimes I learn about the characters. They usually tell me to change the plot, but in at least one case 🍕 I had a supporting character ALL WRONG. The non-character aspect of the plot point stood, but the character totally changed. #AwesomeCharacters 1/2

I try to track how much writing/editing I get done each day (shooting for an hour), and for the last 4 months, I've gotten a cool 15 minutes done on the 9th of the month. Cursed day? 🤔 (Maybe I DO need to use that planner!)
