I'm a lot of things - an artist and a musician, a computer science and neuroscience student, but most of all, I'm someone who wants nothing more than to bring love, joy, and hope to others. And now more than ever, it's what we need the most.

In late January, Ricardo Prada Vásquez, a Venezuelan immigrant working in a delivery job in Detroit, picked up an order at a McDonald’s. He was heading to the address when he erroneously turned onto the Ambassador Bridge, which leads to Canada. It is a common mistake even for those who live in the Michigan border city. But for Mr. Prada, 32, it proved fateful.
The U.S. authorities took Mr. Prada into custody when he attempted to re-enter the country; he was put in detention and ordered deported. On March 15, he told a friend in Chicago that he was among a number of detainees housed in Texas who expected to be repatriated to Venezuela.
That evening, the Trump administration flew three planes carrying Venezuelan migrants from the Texas facility to El Salvador, where they have been ever since, locked up in a maximum-security prison and denied contact with the outside world.
But Mr. Prada has not been heard from or seen. He is not on the list of 238 people who were deported to El Salvador that day. He does not appear in the photos and videos released by the authorities of shackled men with shaved heads.

NEW from @nytimes.com: A bone-chilling account. A Venezuelan man detained alongside the 238 sent to El Salvador on March 15 seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. His name isn't among the names of those sent to CECOT that day and no one spotted him among those men. He's just... gone.

Inside Trump’s Upstate NY migrant hunt: Border Patrol’s meaner tactics snare workers and families “It’s scary,” said a woman whose relatives have disappeared. “You can be followed just for being Hispanic.”

“Deputies are stopping Hispanic drivers for minor, unprovable traffic violations like veering left of center, then handing them over to Border Patrol agents who are sometimes already at the scene.”

Your friendly reminder that it is literally a federal felony punishable by up to five years in prison for the President, Vice President, or any employee of the White House to directly or indirectly ask the IRS to open an investigation into any specific taxpayer.

His girlfriend’s aunt Grace Layva says she and her family made numerous calls looking for him before they found out he was being detained in the Florence Correctional Center, which Immigration and Customs Enforcement uses to detain people.

Another family member drove to the detention center, about 70 miles northwest of Tucson, but said officials wouldn’t provide any information or release him.

ICE did not respond to a request for comment about the wrongful detention.

The family later provided officials with his birth certificate and social security card.

“He did say he was a U.S. citizen, but they didn't believe him,” Layva said. “I think they would have kept him. I think they would have if they would have not got that information yesterday in the court and gave that to ICE and the Border Patrol. He probably would have been deported already to Mexico.”

A Border Patrol official arrested a 19 yo citizen from Albuquerque in Arizona who didn’t have ID on him, claimed he ‘admitted’ to illegally crossing the border, abducted + ICE imprisoned him for 10 days, and would have deported him to Mexico if his family hadn’t tracked him down and provided his ID.

Abrego Garcia and MS-13: What Do We Know? The allegation seems to stem from double hearsay in a document authored by a later suspended police detective.

Sounds like Bondi needs to read @rparloff.bsky.social, who explains why it’s utterly dubious to claim that Abrego Garcia is a member of MS-13, much less a “top” member.

The allegation stems from double hearsay in a doc authored by a later suspended policeman.

The current figure I'm seeing is that as many as 3.3 million Americans protested today. #HandsOff #Resist

(At least) 10,000 people showed up for today’s Hands Off protest in Utah.

For context, the previous largest protest in Utah (against the Vietnam War) got 4,000 people.

Today was the largest protest in Utah’s history.

By 250%

Let that sink in.

I am so, incredibly glad that we have people like AOC in this country. She’s been one of my biggest sources of hope from day 1.

It’s almost like they’ve decided that the solution for an aging population is to kill off our most vulnerable, replace desk jobs with AI, then force us to do the rest. It’s not like Peter Thiel once said Apartheid is a valid economic strategy, and that all moral arguments are invalid, right?

Keep going! Republican reps messed up big time by refusing town halls - sure, they won’t have anyone yelling at them anymore. Instead, they’ll be giving the entirety of the narrative control over to their opposition. Thanks for the help, Reps! 💙

Keep in mind that it’s not just about raising the GDP and making the numbers go brrr. It’s about actually improving the average quality of life for Americans. And in that respect, America has been falling ever since Trump’s first presidency.

Say it like it is. Arrest entails due process - without due process, it’s a kidnapping.

All she did was write an essay criticizing her university for supporting Israel. We really live in a country where people can be arrested by masked secret police for writing an essay that they disagree with.

I swear, this must be the 30th time I’ve seen them do this… say that you’re gonna do something terrible, rescind the statement the moment people start yelling, laugh at them for overreacting, and then go ahead and do it anyway. Do they really think we’re gonna be fooled the 31st time?

If you laugh at the suffering of the 60% of Americans who live paycheck-to-paycheck, 60% of Americans will laugh at yours. It’s really that simple.

Have you ever wondered what you’d do if you lived in 1930’s Germany, and you saw Hitler’s secret police kidnapping people off the street?

Just write down 5 things you did this week, and that’s exactly what you would’ve done.

Yes, of course we need to put more taxes on poor people! The richest 80 people in this country are paying a whole 3.4% of their income as taxes, and only 50 of the wealthiest corporations are able to be tax-free! Rich people are obviously paying too much 🙄

Due process is the act of *making sure that the accused is actually a criminal*. If you’re against due process, what you’re really saying is that you support sending innocent people to prison and letting people jail anyone they don’t like with a single accusation.
