you have curling!!! i would say you kind of have ice dancing too because laurence fournier baudry is canadian but given she and cizeron are horrible people i will not besmirch the good name of canada with that association

that being said at a certain point one is forced to conclude that fans of toronto sports teams are generally being punished for an evil in a past life because there is no other explanation for the maple leafs. perhaps this is what did the blue jays in and not the la dodgers

i feel like us beating canada in both men’s and women’s hockey would’ve been fair if the blue jays had won the world series like if they had won our sport it would be fair for us to beat them at theirs in return but seeing as the blue jays lost this feels a bit unseemly. insult to injury

no YOU don’t want to watch one piece because it’s so long. i don’t want to watch one piece because i think it looks really ugly in like every clip and still i’ve ever seen. i lack the strength for all that

when i was 18ish my best friend and i were for some reason talking about childbirth and he was like “you could do it but in a toxic masculinity way. like you’d somehow feel the need to prove you’re man enough to take the pain of birth” and if i’m honest that’s how i imagine haleth having offspring

het where they make her gender non-conforming as like a feminist W is fine but it will never hold a candle to het where the author was just getting monstrously horny thinking about a man and a woman who somehow feel like men together

most of the period pieces you can think of that have really good costumes are good not because they are perfectly accurate but because they find a way to blend period clothing with our visual sensibilities to tell us about the characters and the environment with their clothes

for me, historical accuracy on film is exactly like book accuracy with an adaptation in the sense that inaccuracy is actually perfectly fine when it’s done thoughtfully and for the purpose of advancing the storytelling. it’s bad when it hurts the story or is done out of simple laziness

as of today it is now the month of adar on the hebrew calendar which means i get to experience a whole month of jewish posts that out of context read like a categorically insane statement from a tolkien elf talking about their father

YEAH and i think often people strangely kind of operate on the assumption that either a society is going to be a very specific recognizable kind of modern western conservative or it’s a progressive utopia and that’s just divorced from reality

so if i adopt this perhaps i honor my father, though i offend his ideas of his father’s marriage(s). on the other hand if i maintain that finwë illegitimately dissolved his marriage contract, i ascribe a brand new and even worse khuzdul kind of bastardy to my cousins. i need to suck the dwarf’s di—

this makes me think about the complication of the fact that the dwarf considers your fathers dissolution of his marriage contract to your mother to be the honorable thing to have done, when in the perspective of your culture casting her off in that way is kind of an abomination

RETWEEEET

18.02.2026 14:39 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

if I have sex with the dwarf and consider my marriage an annulled contract then I offend my father over his father's annulled marriage contract but also did my father not renounce my mother by calling her not a true wife thereby annulling his marriage contract (dwarf hot)

i am shamelessly taking things from judaism here but i think dwarves, like elves, encourage heterosexual marriage but they conceive of a marriage as essentially a contract that is entered into by a man and woman under certain terms and one that like any contract be can be dissolved by the parties in the right conditions which is not easily reconciled with a more LaCE consistent marriage concept where a marriage is actually a literal supernatural binding of souls and is unbreakable because of that. sort of legal relationship with religious implications (dwarf marriage) versus mystical entity (elf marriage). in terms of sex, i think dwarves also think sex should be within marriage but they have the view that marital sex and specifically marital pleasure for its own sake even without respect to procreation is divine and a religious observance of sorts and so you have a sex/marriage concept that is in many ways similarly conservative and yet still is not really congruent with how elves think of these issues

for example, i think my first age dwarves also have a somewhat patriarchal heterosexual marriage culture, they just have concepts of divorce and views on the role of sexuality that are at fundamental odds with the eternal soul marriage for procreation culture the eldar have going on

i am of the opinion that the most interesting thing you can do with two fantasy cultures is give them both bigotry and harmful societal structures that just operate differently and in clashing ways and this tends to inform most of the things i make up about dwarves
