Trump is conspiring to deport American citizens to a slave prison hellhole in El Salvador. This is patently illegal, but he's plotting to do it anyway. This is why the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case is important. Trump is ignoring the courts and due process. It's a test case for a would-be dictator.

I had been doubtful that we were going to have a "this is the crisis moment" with Trump, as opposed to "everything about this is a destructive catastrophe."

This is what's being talked about in the Bukele press conference. Trump is clearly asserting that he has the power to declare anyone he likes a "criminal" or "terrorist" and thereby strip you of citizenship, due process, or any other constitutional protection.
