Me three... I mean I guess it's admired in that it makes *some* of the awful stuff here visible and accessible, but I'd rather cure the disease that admire treatments for some of the symptoms!

21.02.2026 17:57 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you mate! Should be a great day, and looking forward to seeing what shines you'll be showing us too!
14.02.2026 20:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sneaky peak from my and @bryderiet.bsky.social talk at the Vallhall:A conference this Thursday! #vikings #reenactment
14.02.2026 20:04 β π 14 π 2 π¬ 0 π 1It's so frustrating, watching our heritage disappear into private collections, usually overseas.
14.02.2026 14:14 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0It's been a genuine privilege to work with such excellent colleagues putting this video together. I'd really appreciate you giving it a watch at some point, then we can justify making more content like this in future! #archaeology #cumbria #history
13.02.2026 13:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A great opportunity for artists in Cumbria to engage with our archaeological work!
09.02.2026 14:24 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Our book 'Life in the Viking Great Army' is a contender for Current Archaeology's Book of the Year... so this is a last call for the voting from me.
If you'd like to put us forward, then please follow the link below - and thank you!
Thank mate!
06.02.2026 00:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you know any 16-18 year olds interested archaeology or think it might be for them; look into our free ace courses. They do a range of great activities which gives them a taster or archaeology!
05.02.2026 17:31 β π 3 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0Looking at some reproduction viking oval brooches I have made, and seeing the variation and also some thoughts on how they look and the significance of keeping them in circulation in the early medieval period. #viking #earlymedieval #archaeology
03.02.2026 12:42 β π 68 π 14 π¬ 6 π 1There is a lot of drivel out there, as with any field, but it's easy to overlook the genuinely excellent and ground breaking work being undertaken, much if which is as academically grounded as anything in a journal. As you say, the Thegns team being an excellent example of this! #livinghistory
02.02.2026 13:58 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They run right through Tess; pretty unchanged. I guess it's that long tradition, when unimpeded by Rome etc
01.02.2026 19:18 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0These 'repaired' oval brooches are almost done. I've added silver wires with others 'missing' in area, worn the gilding down, and riveted the hinge fitting 'repairs' on the back. The rivets are a mix of silver, repaired silver, and iron. Just have the pins to fit. #vikings #archaeology
27.01.2026 19:11 β π 11 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Off to speak to Glasgow archaeology Society. Everyone's overnight bag looks like this right?

12.01.2026 18:28 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's lovely; no apologies needed! I only recognised it as I had it in my hands and the lovely little brown patch you have on it was instantly familiar, but as there are many similar bottles in Roman Britain and I hadn't seen the episode; I wasn't sure! Very cool; you nailed the colours!
08.01.2026 19:16 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I haven't seen the episode yet, but think this might be one of the bottles from the A66 as we recorded it before Christmas ready for a video you'll be seeing VERY soon! If not, it's a dead ringer! Keep tuned to @oxfordarchaeology.bsky.social
08.01.2026 17:13 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Could say 'the rest of archaeology' tbh! We have all sat on these digging for Britain projects for most of a year, and now we are all sat hoping we don't get lost in the coolest find fray!
08.01.2026 13:15 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tune in tonight to see what the '66 gang have been up to!

First prototype of a repaired P37 viking oval brooch, with a replacement iron hinge fitting, attached with iron bosses. Similar to a single shell led brooch from Clibberswick, Unst, Shetland, they are different types. But both early styles and single shelled. #vikings #archaeology #earlymedieval
